Hi There! I'm Amanda.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I have a deep passion for all things health and wellness. So much so that I feel called to help others make the best choices for their unique, beautiful bodies and lives. My mission is to help you cut through all the conflicting sh*t that's out there to figure out what is actually true for YOU in the areas of nutrition, exercise, stress management, spirituality, relationships and career.

I'm so grateful that you're here to learn more about me - I'm excited to share my world with you!

I want to start by saying: I totally get you.

I get your frustration, disappointment and even, at times, anger.

I know the struggle you're facing, because I've felt exactly what you're feeling not long ago.

While I've fortunately never had a serious health condition, I believe that the way I was living would have eventually sent me down that path.

It all started (or I should say I started paying attention) in 2012 when I moved to Paris to study abroad for my MBA program. It was one of the most amazing, eye opening experiences of my life - it was my first time traveling internationally by myself and I loved every minute of it! However, when my family came to visit, I realized (by the looks on their faces when they saw me for the first time in 6 months) that I had gained a pretty significant amount of weight for my body.

{I'm only 5 ft, so every. pound. shows.}

MY GOAL

To help you discover

 what truly works for  YOU

in all areas of health,

enabling you to

live a vibrant, happy,

energized life!

When I came back home, I became a fitness and clean-eating fanatic. I spent hours upon hours researching exercise routines and how to properly lift weights. I went to the gym 6 days per week for 1 hour+ and paid such close attention to my diet (more on that later). I quickly lost most of the weight I gained and dropped back closer to the weight I was before Paris. But that wasn't good enough for me anymore.

I had immersed myself so much in the fitness lifestyle and was following all the influential accounts on social media that I became brainwashed into thinking that I still wasn't enough. Not skinny enough, not muscular enough, not lean enough, not pretty enough - you get the picture. This took a major toll on my emotional health and sent me down an unhealthy mental spiral.  My new and "improved" goal was to shed even more fat and increase my muscle mass.

At this point I was working out a ton and I ate relatively "healthy." The problem was that I didn't know what really eating healthy meant. I thought that organic frozen meals, organic 100 calorie packs and organic fat-free yogurt were good for me (thanks to clever food marketing) and couldn't figure out why I couldn't lose weight, feel energized and get rid of my brain fog.

I tried so many different eating and work out styles over the past 5 years in search of that magic combination that was going to give me the body of my dreams. Below are some of the most notable diets that I tried:

  • Counting + tracking every single thing that passed my lips and weighing every ounce of food and liquid. Some know this as "IIFYM" or "if it fits your macros." Meaning, if the food fits within the macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs) amount that you allow yourself per day, you can eat it.

  • Extremely clean eating 6 days in a row with 1 cheat day.  Cheat day = eat whatever the heck you want in order to "re-feed" your body.

  • High-protein, moderate-carb and low-fat. I restricted my fat intake to less than 30g per day. For those who don't know grams, that's about 3 tbsp of your favorite nut butter. Total. Per day

  • High fat, moderate protein, low, low, low carb. Otherwise known as the Ketogenic Diet. I saw some pretty great success with this - in the beginning. It just wasn't sustainable for me (my body loves moderate amounts of fruit!)

Needless to say, none of these worked for me long-term. My body was SO confused. I completely lost the ability that we're all born with to listen to my body and feed it what it needed, rather than give in to what my hormones told my brain I craved. As you can imagine, this roller coaster made me irritable and anxious all the time.

It wasn't until about a year ago when I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I figured out what actually works for my body and I finally was set on the right path.

I'm still learning new things about my body and mind every single day, and by no means am I perfect. Actually, I've realized that perfection doesn't exist and that when we strive for it, it keeps us anxious, frustrated and unhappy.

I'm proud to say that I'm finally on my way to TRUE happiness. I'm learning to love myself exactly as I am - which, for me, is what matters the most.

I look forward to connecting with you here through my blog posts and on Instagram
